Kingston, New York is located in the foothills of the Catskills. I was describing to a friend how I see the Catskills when I go to the supermarket out on the highway; spinning around in the parking lot.
This painting was not working and I had to stop for a world wide, online global peace meditation for the people of Israel and Gaza. I stayed in the studio for the meditation. At one point we were asked to visualize “a pink pillar of light from the galactic Sun to Earth’s core.” When it was done, I opened my eyes onto this painting in progress, brush still in hand and knew what I had to do.
Passer des Fruits series: I have been collecting titles of meaning since last year. This series is a departure from my usual practice of waiting for the painting, like a baby or beloved pet, to tell me their name. Instead of intuiting shape, then finding a title, I went the other way and let the title’s intent begin the work.
